NewsHarvest Fair & Farmers MarketThe Heaton Mersey Village Conservation Group will be holding their fair and farmers market on Sunday 18th September, from 11am - 3pm. The event will include a free bike surgery and security marking, fun for under 6s with the Stockport Play Development Team, a community cafe, Heaton Mersey Farmers Market, a Zumba demonstration with Georgie West, and more besides. Link: Harvest Fair & Farmers Market Tree Party Big WeekenderManchester City Council, Oldham Borough Council, Naturally Curious and Renaissance Northwest join together to host the Tree Party 'Big Weekender' - a two day event featuring activities, tree climbing, falconry displays, animal handling, tree racing and more. Running over the weekend at two locations. Saturday 8 October 2011 - Manchester - Heaton Park - 12-4pm. Sunday 9 October 2011 - Oldham - Tandle Hill Country Park - 12-4pm. Link: Tree Party Big Weekender Hatton Hilltop Sanctuary EventThe Sanctuary celebrated its 5th anniversary on Saturday, 7th May, 2011 with an event at the Heaton Norris Recreational Park. The event was organised with the support of the SMBC Parks Department; and South Manchester Wildlife Rescue attended with our owls and a tombola. Despite poor weather, we appreciated all the support received at the event. Link: Hatton Hilltop Sanctuary Owls at The PrintworksTo celebrate the release of the new Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows, released on the 20th November 2010, The Printworks invited the South Manchester Wildlife Rescue Centre down to display some of their rescued owls, similar to those seen in the film. All the volunteers had a great, if cold, day showing members of the public the owls and explaining the hard work that goes into running the rescue centre.
